Donato J. Tramuto, Chief Executive Officer

Donato J. Tramuto, CEO of Tivity Health®, Inc., (Nasdaq: TVTY), is widely recognized for his commitment to social change and visionary, transformational leadership in healthcare innovation that led the New York Times to deem him “a global health activist.” In particular, Tramuto is a passionate champion of cutting-edge approaches to healthcare access, drug safety, and addressing the social determinants of health (SDOH), defined by the World Health Organization as the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work and age. Under his leadership, Tivity Health’s business model has centered around partnering progressively, profitably and collaboratively with consumers, payers, healthcare practitioners and employers in cutting-edge approaches to SDOH conditions including nutrition, fitness and social connection, that improve health outcomes and reduce medical costs. By refocusing Tivity Health around this model – including engineering the creative sale of a non-performing division and the subsequent acquisition of Nutrisystem®, Inc. (formerly Nasdaq: NTRI) – Tramuto has turned around Tivity Health’s business performance and added nearly $1 billion of valuation to the company. Today, Tivity Health impacts the lives of millions through its integrated portfolio of pioneering scalable programs, including Nutrisystem but also SilverSneakers®, South Beach Diet®, Prime® Fitness, and WholeHealth Living™. Most recently, Tivity Health announced the 2020 launch of Wisely Well™, a meal delivery program offering fully prepared meals specially designed by nutritionists to meet the dietary needs of older adults including post-discharge meal delivery and chronic care nutrition plans. Before joining Tivity Health, Tramuto’s record of bringing together social commitment with healthcare innovation included his founding of Physicians Interactive Holdings (now known as Aptus Health), a global provider of insight-driven digital engagement solutions for healthcare professionals and consumers. Reflecting a conviction that universal healthcare is a basic human right for all people, he also launched Health eVillages, a non-profit organization providing state-of-the-art mobile health technology in the most challenging clinical environments and working to broaden healthcare access. Tramuto is the founder and chair of The Tramuto Foundation, which advances young people’s rights to education and healthcare access and combats human right violations. This three-decade commitment to social change and innovation has earned numerous awards, including the Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award recipient. Tramuto currently serves as a member of the board of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights and is chairman of its Leadership Council where his foundation has committed to funding a three-year, $1 million grant to address workplace bullying, leading a national initiative to address workplace dignity and inclusion in the U.S. and Europe. Tramuto is a member of the Brown University Healthcare Leadership Board, as well as the boards of directors of the Boston University School of Public Health, the Livongo Health Foundation, Sharecare, Inc., and GoCheck Kids. He is the mastermind behind a groundbreaking 360° public service campaign and annual summit addressing challenges unique to older adults, including the too-often overlooked issues of isolation and loneliness.

A proponent of lifeling learning, Tramuto holds honorary doctorates from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, Thomas Jefferson University, Lasell College and Saint Joseph’s College, and is the author of Life’s Bulldozer Moments: How Adversity Leads to Success in Life and Business.
